Closing Film | Minnie Evans: Draw or Die

  • Drakeford Library Complex 203 South Greensboro Street Carrboro, NC, 27510 United States (map)

Carrboro Film Fest, in collaboration with Southern Documentary Fund is proud to present Minnie Evans: Draw or Die, a feature documentary film by NC native filmmaker, Linda Royal. Compelled by dreams and a voice that urged her to “draw or die,” Wilmington artist Minnie Evans remains one of the most important, self-taught, African American artists of the 20th century.  Visually anchored in Evans’s vibrant compositions, the film weaves together archival imagery, Nina Starr’s photography, and  sweeping views of the sunrises and coastal landscapes that inspired her.

We invite you to join us for the film and a special Q&A with the director, cast, and crew after the screening, hosted by Southern Documentary Fund.

Tickets are now sold out for all film blocks, but tickets may become available due to rescheduling. Check our ticketing page to see if tickets are available. Additionally, there will be a standby line for each event. 10 minutes before showtime, we will open sales to the standby line to fill any remaining seats in the theater. The standby line does not guarantee a ticket, and will be sold on a first come, first served basis.
