Embrace the Echo | Short Films

  • Drakeford Library Complex 203 South Greensboro Street Carrboro, NC, 27510 United States (map)

There are few things Southerners love more than a good ghost story–perhaps because we know the only thing scarier than confronting the past is forgetting it. Through this collection of 10 short films, we are transported back into the quiet magic of childhood nostalgia, we venture through haunting dreams and rituals to see the transformative power of grief, and follow the legacy of one scream through the history of cinema. For better or worse, each story in this block reminds us that the past is still very much present with us, echoing in the distance no matter how much we evolve–we hope you leave ready to listen to what it has to offer with open ears, and maybe even open arms.

Filmmakers from the films will participate in a Q&A after the films.
